Keynote Prof. Dr. Benjamin Jörissen – Artificial Intelligence and the Politics of Machine Perception: Artistic Practice and Cultural Resilience
On Sunday, 8 December 2024, the Kulturbüro Muggenhof invited interested parties to the AkademieLAB of our UNESCO Chair in Digital Culture and Arts in Education at the Kulturwerkstatt Auf AEG (Fürther Straße 244d, 90429 Nuremberg) to explore the intersections of artificial intelligence, visual culture and pedagogy. The event, which was part of the ‘(A) Eye Conference’ held by the TUK Nairobi, featured an exhibition of analogue works by students from Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa and Germany, which will be on display until the end of December 2024. Prof. Dr. Benjamin Jörissen opened the evening with a keynote entitled: ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Politics of Machine Perception: Artistic Practice and Cultural Resilience’, in which he highlighted the ethical, ecological and cultural implications of generative AI and its potential to transform creative and artistic practices as well as our understanding of cultural resilience in the digital age.
