Guest lecture by Dr John Johnston

On Friday, 15 November 2024, Dr John Johnston from the recently established UNESCO Chair for Issues-Based Arts Education, Intercultural Dialogue and Social Cohesion at the ArtEZ – University of the Arts in Arnhem (Netherlands) gave a public lecture as part of the MA seminar ‘Transformative Arts in Education’. During the one-and-a-half hour hybrid event, he gave the participants a detailed introduction to the topic of ‘Issues-Based Arts Education & Peace Building: The Artisteducator as Agent of Ex-Change’, leaving a lasting impression on both the students and the colleagues present.

After getting to know each other for the first time in the context of an online exchange meeting of the networks of German and Dutch UNESCO Chairs in January 2024 and at the “International Conference of German UNESCO Chairs” in Lüneburg in October 2024, this event will hopefully mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration between our UNESCO Chairs.
